This policy explains what information Own the Script collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Own the Script is a mobile app that helps you record short videos, turns them into polished captioned clips with our editing tools, and — when you choose — publishes them to your connected social accounts. The app is operated by Nifli LLC, a Washington limited liability company ("Nifli," "we," "us," or "our").
Information we collect
We collect the information you give us, information created when you use the app, and a limited amount of technical information from your device.
Information you provide

Information created when you use the app
- Connected-account data. When you connect a social platform (see Connected social accounts), we receive access tokens and basic account details from that platform so we can publish on your behalf. We never receive your social-account password.
- Publishing activity. The posts, captions, scheduling, privacy settings, and publish results (success or failure) for content you send to connected platforms.
- Compliance activity. The compliance flags raised on your content, the fixes you applied, and any overrides you confirmed — kept as an audit record for you.
- Subscription status. Whether you are on a free trial or a paid plan, and related purchase records.
Device & diagnostic information
- Usage & analytics. How you interact with features, so we can understand what is working and improve the app.
- Crash & performance data. Diagnostic logs, device model, operating-system version, and app version when something goes wrong.
- Push tokens. A device identifier used to deliver push notifications and reminders you have enabled.
Camera & microphone. The app requests camera and microphone access only so you can record video and audio. Recording happens when you choose to record. You can revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings, though the app can't capture video without them.
How we use information
- To provide the core service — capture your recording, run it through our editing pipeline (transcription, filler-word and silence removal, pacing and delivery smoothing, animated captions, background music, and AI b-roll), and return your finished video.
- To power compliance features — scan your transcript and captions against our rule set, surface flags and suggested fixes, and stamp the disclosures you have configured (NMLS ID, Equal Housing, disclaimer end-card).
- To publish content you choose to publish to your connected social accounts.
- To manage your subscription, free trial, and billing status.
- To send you notifications and reminders you have turned on.
- To secure, maintain, and improve the app, diagnose problems, and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
AI processing of your content
Producing your video relies on automated and AI processing. Your recording, transcript, and script may be processed in the cloud by us and by third-party AI service providers acting on our behalf (for example, to transcribe speech, generate or check script language, and assemble b-roll and captions).
- We share with these providers only what is needed to perform the task, under contracts that require them to protect your data and use it only to provide the service to us.
- We do not sell your content, and we do not permit our AI providers to use your content to train their own general-purpose models.
- AI output can contain mistakes. You are responsible for reviewing every video — and, where compliance rules apply, confirming it meets your and your employer's requirements — before you publish it.
Subscriptions & payments
Own the Script is offered as a paid subscription, typically after a free trial. Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play using their billing systems, and we use RevenueCat to manage subscription status, trials, and receipts.
We receive your subscription status and non-sensitive transaction details. We do not receive or store your full payment card number. Payment handling is governed by the privacy policies of Apple, Google, and RevenueCat.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Your recordings, transcripts, and finished videos remain until you delete them or delete your account. When you delete your account (see our Data & Account Deletion page), we delete or de-identify your personal information within 30 days, and residual copies in backups are purged within 90 days, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal, tax, security, or dispute-resolution obligations.
Your rights & choices
- Access and correction. View and update most of your information directly in the app.
- Deletion. Delete individual videos, disconnect social accounts, or delete your entire account. See the Data & Account Deletion page for step-by-step instructions.
- Notifications. Turn push and email reminders on or off in the app or your device settings.
- Permissions. Manage camera, microphone, and photo access in your device settings.

U.S. state privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example, California, and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to request a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise a right, email support@ownthescript.app; we will verify your request and respond as required by law. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit and at rest, secure storage of access tokens, and access controls limiting who can reach your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and to notify you and regulators of incidents where the law requires.
Children
Own the Script is a professional tool intended for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Where data is processed
We are based in the United States and process and store information there. If you access the app from outside the United States, you understand your information will be processed in the U.S., which may have different data-protection rules than your location.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of Own the Script after an update means you accept the revised policy.

Connected social accounts
Own the Script lets you connect accounts on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn so you can publish directly from the app. When you connect an account:
Each platform's own privacy policy and terms govern what it does with the content you publish there. Our use of information received from these platforms complies with their developer and platform policies, including Google's API Services User Data Policy (including its Limited Use requirements) for any Google/YouTube data we access.
